Patna Metro Rail – Route Map, Timings, Fare, Recruitment 2023 [Latest Data]

The Patna Metro, an urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) with two lines and 24 stops, is being built in Patna, the capital city of Bihar, by Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL).

The 36 km Patna Metro project’s Phase 1 Detailed Project Report (DPR) was created by RITES and was accepted by Bihar State Government on February 9, 2016. On September 25, 2018, the Bihar government approved the formation of the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL), which in turn named the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as the General Consultant (GC) to help with its execution.

The project will reportedly receive a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency as part of its official development aid (ODA) (JICA).

When Will Patna Metro Start?

PM Modi placed the project’s foundation stone on February 17, 2019, after the Central Government gave its clearance on February 6, 2019. The DMRC changed the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the alignment of both lines in November 2019. As a result, a second interchange was built at Khemni Chowk, the depot for Line-1 at Aitwarpur was removed, and two new stations were added at Ramkrishna Nagar and Jaganpura.

In November 2020, NCC started laying the foundation for Phase 1 of the Patna Metro, and in December 2020, pile driving commenced. Patna Metro Rail’s first section is expected to be constructed and opened in August 2024, exceeding its August 2023 deadline. Phase 1 is expected to be completed in 2027.

Land Acquisition For Patna Metro Rail:

Although progress has been made on Corridor II (Patna Junction-Patliputra bus terminal) of the Patna metro rail project, finding land for the ISBT metro depot is still a challenge. Pahadi Mauza locals are unwilling to donate their property for the project’s completion.

The depot would be built on 76 acres of land next to SH-1, Bairiya Chak at Ranipur-Pahadi Mauza, according to a proposal from the Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC). It already has Rs 1,000 crore from the state government’s approval.

50.59 acres in Pahadi and 25.35 acres in Ranipur are to be purchased by the district government. The land is expected to cost Rs 726 crore.

The Patna metro train project would advance more slowly overall, according to a PMRC official, as a result of the delay in land acquisition. Although work is now being done on the priority corridor from Malahi Pakri to New ISBT, the depot won’t be ready until after that.

A significant accomplishment is the 30% completion of the priority corridor project, which runs from Malahi Pakri to Patliputra Bus Terminal. A girder was placed on the pillars near the proposed Boothnath Metro station on January 26, 2023.

According to a DMRC representative, all project civil work is anticipated to be finished by 2026. The Project is moving forward and in full swing. Workers are needed for the project and the equipment is currently being mobilized.

Installation of the piers, piles, and pile caps has already been finished. Precast components, such as the pier cap U-grinder, are now being launched. While physical development on the priority corridor has reached about 30% completion, civil construction is expected to be finished by 2024.

According to a Patna DMRC official, the construction of the approach road’s earth filling has also been completed. The depot is anticipated to be finished by the end of March 2025.

In the month of February 2023, a tunnel boring machine will be placed at Moin-Ul Haq station. The location where the assembly work is being done has received all the components needed to assemble two TBMs.
